In Acts 17, the Apostle Paul commended the Jews of Berea (an ancient city, the ruins of which are in present day Greece). The Bereans (pronounced "Beh-ree-uns") received Paul's preaching of the Gospel "with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11). As a result, many Jews and Greeks believed the Gospel.
At Berean Baptist Church, we believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Therefore, all of our members are encouraged to diligently read the Scriptures themselves, in addition to listening to preaching and teaching. Jesus said, "If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31-32).
